HER Story, Formation, and Purpose
Dr. Janet Nwaukoni is a physician, educator, and community health advocate committed to advancing equitable care.
Her work spans clinical practice, nonprofit leadership, mentorship, and public health education. She has led community-based initiatives, collaborated with nonprofit organizations, and contributed to programs designed to improve health outcomes for underserved populations.
Her journey into medicine was shaped early by witnessing healthcare disparities within my own community. As a first-generation Nigerian-American, she saw firsthand how systemic barriers impact access, outcomes, and trust in care.
Today, she works to close those gaps—whether through direct patient care, developing recovery-based care models, or mentoring the next generation of physicians.
Her work extends beyond the clinic into advocacy, community partnerships, and program development. Whether she is leading wellness initiatives, collaborating with nonprofit organizations, or speaking on topics related to health equity and physician leadership, her focus remains the same: to build systems that empower individuals and strengthen communities.

I believe that health extends far beyond clinical settings—it lives within families, communities, and the environments where we learn, grow, and heal. This belief has guided my work in community health initiatives, nonprofit partnerships, and mentorship, allowing me to meet people where they are and support care that is both accessible and meaningful.
It also shapes how I approach wellness education, connecting lifestyle, prevention, and recovery as essential parts of whole-person care—because true healing considers the full picture of a person’s life.
My faith and sense of calling continue to ground me, guiding me to practice medicine with compassion, humility, and a sincere commitment to uplifting others.
